The Ash Heritage Group collects and preserves historical and contemporary material relating to Ash-next-Sandwich and makes it available for research. We encourage the study of the history of Ash and endeavour to promote an awareness of its heritage.

The Group was formally inaugurated in 2011 after several years of planning and fundraising by a steering committee. Our purpose-built archives room, known as the Ash Heritage Centre, was opened in the same year and houses an extensive collection of material relating to the large parish of Ash. The Centre’s facilities are open to enquirers and researchers. (See Research Facilities).

We host two lectures a year, provide exhibitions and smaller displays of archives and artefacts in our custody, host local school groups for workshops and offer visits for our members and local guided tours to the public. A registered charity, the Group is consulted by other bodies on a range of matters relating to the parish.

We extend a warm welcome to all with an interest in Ash, whether at the Centre or by correspondence, both to local and more distant enquirers.

At our most recent Annual General Meeting in 2021 the following committee was elected:

Robert Hudson (Chairman), Peter Ewart (Secretary), Meg Bennetts (Treasurer), Nina Vallack, Cressida Williams, Kathy Mills, Sarah Miller, Alison Charles & Kimberley Feeley.
